Plain language about what this website and the Foundation collect, what they do not, and who to contact with questions. Last updated September 18, 2026.
What this website collects
- Server logs. The site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time) for security and operations under Netlify's privacy policy.
- Campaign source tags. If you arrive through a link that carries campaign tags (for example, a link in a Foundation email), the site remembers those tags for your visit so the Foundation can learn which outreach leads to gifts. The tags describe the campaign, never you, and they are cleared when you close your browser.
- Interaction events. The site records which buttons are used (for example, that a Donate button was clicked). These records contain the page and button, not your identity, your gift, or anything you type.
- Analytics. The site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit, which pages they read, and which buttons they use. Google Analytics sets cookies on your browser to tell returning visitors from new ones. The Foundation has turned off Google Signals and ad personalization, does not use advertising features, and never sends names, email addresses, gift amounts, or anything you type. Google's handling of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies for this site.
- Fonts. Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your browser's request for the font files under Google's privacy policy.
Donations
Gifts are processed by Givebutter on Givebutter's own pages and embedded displays, under Givebutter's privacy policy. This website never receives or stores card or bank details. Givebutter shares donor name, contact details, and gift information with the Foundation so it can issue receipts, thank donors, and keep required records. Donors can choose to give anonymously on Givebutter; the live display shows only what donors choose to make public. The Foundation does not sell, rent, or trade donor information.
Families who ask for help
When a family emails the Foundation, the email is used only to respond and, where the Foundation is able to help, to arrange that help. The Foundation asks for the minimum information it needs, asks families not to send medical records in a first email, and does not publish names, stories, photographs, or any identifying information about the families it hears from or helps. It does not share their information with donors, sponsors, or partners, and it does not add people who ask for help to fundraising lists.
Emails to howdy@carrygoodforward.com and boardofdirectors@carrygoodforward.com are handled through the Foundation's email provider. The Foundation does not currently operate a newsletter or marketing list. If one is introduced, it will be opt-in, with clear consent language and an unsubscribe link in every message.
Children
This website is intended for adults. The Foundation does not knowingly collect information from children through the website.
Your choices and questions
To ask what information the Foundation holds about you, to correct it, or to ask for it to be deleted, email howdy@carrygoodforward.com. Records the Foundation must keep by law (for example, donation records) are kept for as long as required.
